The races that were rained out on August 27 are rescheduled for September 17, 2006. The gates will open at 3:00 pm and races will begin at 5:00 pm. We have been negotiating with IMCA and the Speed Bowl to make sure we get all the championship races in that we can. This will be our last attempt to get the championship night in. The points races are tight and should provide for a interesting night of racing. The mini sprints will also run as well as the IMCA classes. Have any questions you may contact me. Thanks everyone for a good first year of helping me promote the track this year. We tried our best and hope everyone has enjoyed the year also. Good luck to all involved.

Congrats on what sounds like a successful first year.
Here's an idea, suggestion, or whatever you want to call it:
Since it sounds like you get along well with the promotors at Red Cloud, visit with them about their Latemodel specials they had(well, attempted to have...rain kinda washed 'em out).
They ran basically OPEN engine rules and had pretty good car counts considering it was basically just word-of-mouth advertising a week ahead of time that got the LM's there.
The RC promotor talked to the LM drivers and said he'd like to run more of these OPEN MOTOR specials next year. My suggestion would be for Lex to get together with RC and have a rotating "mini-series" for OPEN MOTOR latemodels next year. Maybe throw Norton KS into the mix as well and also talk to Gary and Tami down in North Platte too.
I bet there'd be 15+ cars show up if this thing got going, there's several of these kinds of cars who USED to run Lex weekly that don't run there now due to the "limited LM" rules that were adapted this year.
The purse wouldn't have to be huge to get these cars to come back, and each track would only have to run 'em about every 3 weeks(or 4, etc. depending on how many tracks were involved).
Just something to consider during the off season.

Thats nice! Races start at 5pm. I work till 4pm and live 65 miles away.
Leading the stockcar points.

Shane, If you need me to I would pull your car & trailer down so when you get off you can haul butt towards lex. If you hurry you could MAYBE make it on time. Let me know!!!

O hornet you have nothing to worry about. Where do you always start?(in the back) Where do you finish? (in the front) So what if you miss the heat race. Who knows might not want to finish in the top 4 the last night never know what some drivers are thinking. Are you planning on going to Tiny Lund?

Shane clock out an hour early ... I did it for years before they gave all our work to the mech. an pipefuzzers... all they do is whine ... tell them your sick... the only cure you know of is racin...

ATTENTION NEW CARS:Any new cars that have not raced this season at DCR we offer you this special invitation to come to Dawson County Raceway September 17th. New car registrations will only be $10 a car,(Got to pay the secretary to put you in the computer) for any class. We will run the racing program as a regular night of racing including line-ups. As for the starting time, many drivers wanted to start at 1 or 2 pm so they could run Lex and then go to Red Cloud. We decided to give time for families to go to church, have dinner & spend a little time with family before coming to the races. We all have to make decisions and adjustments. Each individual has to make their own decision of what will work or not. We could have just canceled Championship night, no matter what decision we as track promoters make it will never satisfy everyone. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the races on the 17th and GOOD LUCK DRIVERS!

hey Ron, I really like your idea on bringing back the open motor LM's. I didn't think that there was as good of turnout of the limiteds as there were the others. I know i personally only went to Lex twice this year, and I was always a regular weekly attendee along with 5 or 6 others, don't get me wrong Allan, you gave it a try with the other class which I really appriciate, but i like the big LMs so i did alot of traveling all over this summer to watch them, as for the rest of the classes i really think that you had a really good car count this year, and i am sure the count well continue to grow next year....Thanks Allan for all your time and effort this year, and hopefully well see you back again next year.
Dirt is for racin...asphalt is for getting there........now lets rock
