How many people would be interested in racing latemodels at Lexington if they had them like say once a month. We could ask Allen to invite the LM"s maybe if there was enough interest. This is just a thought from some of the MNS and JMS cars would have somwhere else to race once in awhile. This by no means is of any factuallity just a few racers, hopefully quiete a few hoping for another place to race.If your interested post your name here.I know Allen reads this board. |

Great idea Grape but what rules package would you use? JMS - MNS or do the SLMR rules which tried to tie them all together? Just asking I'd sure try to come.

I think The Rules(Grand National/Crate)at MNS(Doniphan) seem to work pretty well! They have alot of cars and the class continues to grow! There is alot of young drivers and veteran's!I was talking with Leonard's they are interested,Justin Gregg said he would be plus a few others i have spoke with would love to have somewhere else occasionally!Just a IDEA!

If you raced the SLMR rules on the off nights of NRP I think you would get a good car count. I would love to be able to go somewhere else on a Sunday when NRP wasn't racing SLMR.

We would have to start at 3:00 in the afternoon to be home before Monday morning. The last time latemodels came to Lex, there were only 5 cars. So, I give a big Nay to this idea. Brendan

I like the idea Grape but the 2 times I raced there 4 hours away getting home intime to go to work made for a long Monday. It's a fun track and Allen and his crew are some of the best you'll meet so anytime I get the chance I say heck ya! |

As long as we didn't have to run a rev chip I would consider the trip (assuming I keep my car together Saturday night!!!) |

I would love to get the late model class going again, but I have tried it two different years. I tried the limited class the first year and open late models the next year. The first year we ran limiteds and only had maybe 7 or 8 cars nightly, the fair race we had 12-14 cars which was great. The next year we ran open and was lucky to get 5 cars. Biggest complaint was we didn't pay enough, I can't afford to pay much especially when 5 cars show up. I have boosted the pay in the other classes last year to support the classes that support us nightly. With the crowds that we have had probaly can't pay to much in the future. I would probaly try to run late models if we had at least 10-12 cars nightly with no exceptions. With the economy the way it is I think it is going to be really hard to make things stay above water. I have heard the talk about all kinds of late models showing up to race but when we schedule the lms the numbers never show up. Prove to me that you will have numbers and I might give it some serious thought. If we can get some numbers and we all work out a pay scale that would satisfy everyone to race we might be able to work something out. I agree that it doesn't seem right not having lms running at Lex once in awhile. These are just my thoughts and opinions.

if you could run a limited class rule on a weekly bases we would be interested |

Allen I do run a limited motor but I believe McCool makes you run a chip. That's partly why I didn't do the McCool 100. Just seems like the limited rules aren't consistent everywhere and I will not run a chip on my car! The idea of once a month sounds good though. |

If you are not going to run weekly, then SLMR rules would be the best, they allow any combination to be competitive, so you would have a wider variety of cars to draw from. Curt Drake Late Model #55 |

Haven't looked on here for awhile but I thought I'd throw my 2 cents in...
It would be great to have Lex run LM's again, but, in my case, and probably most other LM guys from the area west of Lex who can't afford to go farther east to MNS or JMS anymore, they would have to run weekly, not once a month or whatever, to justify putting a car together. And even then the payout would have to be decent to make having a car to only run one track worthwhile.
However(and I know this is beating a long-dead horse)...IF North Platte AND Lex both decided to get a LM class running weekly again, I'd be putting a car together in a heartbeat, regardless of which rules package they went with and even if the payout was only so-so.
The reality though, is that it's just wishfull thinking that this'll happen anytime soon. As was proven a few years back, there's just not enough LM's in the area that would commit to running both tracks full-time for it to ever be financially worthwhile for the promotors. And from a racer's viewpoint, it just isn't any fun running a feature race with only 4 or 5 other cars in it. That's why there's one of those funny-lookin' stock-stub 8-inch-tire no-front-fender things going together in my shop now. |
