Trying to get things completed earlier on racing Sunday evenings, race promoter Allen Wissmann has decided the races at Dawson County Raceway in Lexington will start earlier in the evenings for the 2009 racing season. This year, the gates will still open at 5 PM, Central Time, but the races will start at 6:30 PM, Central Time. If Mother Nature co-operates, Dawson County Raceway in Lexington has a huge sixteen race schedule. Something else being tried to help speed up show here and at other local tracks is the use of raceceiver radios, one-way radios from officials to the drivers. The area promoters are hoping it will cut down the number of laps run under caution (for lineups), and increase safety for drivers and officials.
The fast 3/8-mile oval will feature the Modifieds, Stock Cars, and Hobby Stocks, all sanctioned by the International Motor Contest Association (IMCA). This year, the United Rebel Sprint Series, headquartered in Oberlin, Kansas, will make three appearances at the track. The Blood, Sweat, and Tears Modified series will be on hand for a fourth special during the summer time. A new, two-day Cornhusker Fall Nationals event for the Modifieds, Stock Cars, and Hobby Stocks, has been scheduled. A practice night will be held October 2 and racing will be on October 3 - 4. It will take the place of the Platte River Valley Shootout. The starting times for it have yet to be determined.
Dawson County Raceway will begin the season with a test and tune day on Sunday afternoon, April 19, from 2:30-5:00 PM, Central Time. Participating drivers will need to complete a registration before practice. The season opener will be on Sunday, April 26. Racing most Sunday nights during the summer, the season championship races will be on August 23. The IMCA Hobby Stocks will be able to participate in the Burger King 9 for 9 challenge. Information on that will be given at another time. A season ending banquet is also scheduled for December 12 at the Holiday Inn Express.
Grandstand admission prices for the 2009 season will be $10 for adults and $4 for children 6 - 12 on regular nights of racing. During the nights of the Sprint Car events, BST, and Fall Nationals, grandstand admission prices will be $12 for adults and $5 for children 6 - 12. Children 5 and under will be admitted free for both regular nights and specials. Pit passes will be $20 on the regular nights and $25 during the specials. Drivers may download pre-registration forms and track rules at www.dawsoncountyraceway.com. For more information on the racing season, contact Allen at 308-472-3214 or 308-991-4645.
Dawson County Raceway is on the Dawson County Fairgrounds along U.S. Highway 283, 2 miles north of the Lexington/I-80 interchange, exit 237.

So I take it your not going to try to run late models at least once a month?

No, a few guys talked to me last fall about it. They were going to talk to drivers at MNS banquet to see who would be interested. I did not hear back from anyone.
