Other Than Dirt Driver Tracks & Series
|
Awards & Accomplishments | We finished 2001 in 2nd place at Mid-Nebraska Speedway and 3rd at Lexington with 20 finishes in the Top 5 at Mid-Nebraska but only 1 win. 2002 also gave us a 2nd place in the Final Points Standings at Mid-Nebraska with 8 Top 3 finishes. 2003 was a good year with 8 Top 3 finishes, 2 of which were wins (one with 6 cars!). We ended up with the Track Point Championship but only because John Verba couldn't drive his #22 car on account of a broken pelvis. 2004 started out with a patriotic theme to our car, saluting the soldiers fighting for our freedoms, but that car got trashed on Memorial Day. So we borrowed, then bought, another car. 2005 was the first year we ran a car built from scratch, a Ford 400. We chose Popeye the Sailor Man to adorn our car. In 2006 Popeye (or actually Olive Oyle) has been a litle too close to the wall a few times, but we have collected 3 3rd place finishes and trophies for 2 wins. We should end up in the Top 5 in Points as the Top 4 cars are all within 5 points of each other with one more race to go in the season. It's been a lot of fun! | Career Summary | My daughter LaNita bought our first Cruiser with a friend and when the friend's parents said "No way!", my husband became her partner. Unfortunately in January 2001, she suffered a crushed vertebra in her back and while she has completely recovered, she has chosen to give up her dream of racing. So I have taken her place. | Racing Goals | #1 goal is to have FUN!!! To keep the car going the right direction (I still have trouble on this one). To finish every race. Also to quit spinning out!! | Other Interesting Team Information | Our daughter chose #99 because it is the year she graduated high school and we just kept it. When LaNita was the driver and Kelly ran the gas, she often complained that he wouldn't give it enough gas. Now he is the driver and I run the gas and he tells me to let off! Maybe LaNita and I should have been the partners. |
