Awards & Accomplishments | At the 1974 Speedbowl 100 in Red Cloud, I won the 30 lap race by starting on the pole and leading every lap. That was very thrilling! This was in a Mustang that I think is called a Super Stock today. In 2001 I placed 4th in a Modified A Feature at the Speedbowl, and the following week I placed 7th. This was very exciting for an "Old Dog"! You would think I won the whole thing!!! It was certaintly a victory after 25 years of retirement from the sport. | Career Summary | I have the IMCA bug and am ready to "Let It Roll" in 2002! | Racing Goals | To be the Rookie Champion in 2002 and become the oldest Rookie Champion. To not harm any of the other drivers by causing accidents. | Other Interesting Team Information | I love the cheering of the fans in the bleachers for the comeback of the "Old Dog" from the late 60's. I have always used the number 01, as it is "The Beginning." My car is blue and white because no one liked green! In the early days of racing it was Taboo to drive a green car. I had a green Mustang that was a running Jessie, with a Harry Brownell Boss 302 Ford. My intentions are to win for three generations - the Past, Present and Future. After 25 years of retirement from the sport, I helped a buddy of mine go racing in 2001 and had not been to a race in many years. When I got to the pits, one of the drivers said, "I remember you! When I was about 12 years old, you wrecked your car and got out and did a forward flip to let the fans know you were alright!" They all still remember that to this day! |
