| | Career Summary | It all started at a small dirt track in Sun Prairie, WI, home track to the Badger Midgets and Series Champion Randy Koch. I was a young two year old watching my dream out there on the track. It only took a few words to set history in the making: "I want to be a race car driver." Let the fun begin!
At the ripe age of seven, I started racing Go-Karts at a local Kart track in Dousman, WI. This is where I got my name, Full Throttle Nick. Mike Purcell can be thanked for that. For the first year, Mike was the best help a young driver could have. And he could see a driver with talent. "He doesn't brake much. Or lift off the throttle. He's got that thing pegged," stated Mike.
With much success in the local Karting scene, it was time to move to something bigger and harder. National racing was where that began. Scott Vielgut and Two Cycle Technology can be thanked for the great success in National Karting. They are some of the best people I've ever met. They helped me with everything. There in Karting I got to race against young drivers that are now big successes. Drivers like Colin Braun, Graham Rahal, and a young Marco Andretti.
Several Karting Championships down, it was time yet again to move up. The Midwest is known for dirt track racing. Now living in Nebraska, it was time to have fun with the local custom. A Mini-Sprint was purchased from a local talent by the name of Mike Boston, one of Eagle Raceway's best. Three races in, I took my first checkered flag with a victory, at age fifteen. Pavement or dirt, it didn't matter.
The summer after Mini-Sprint racing, I received the opportunity of a lifetime, to drive the car I watched many years ago, the Midget driven by Randy Koch. There was limited success in the fast paced world of Midgets. Lady luck was not on my side. The few races that were finished went well with a high of 13th at the famous Angel Park Speedway.
