Kosiski goes wire to wire in Spring Meltdown Finale
By Anthony Ainslie

Andrew Kosiski defended his home soil Saturday night getting the biggest win of his career at I-80 Speedway.
Saturday was the finale for the Malvern Bank Super Late Models West Seriesí opening weekend during I-80ís Spring Meltdown. A field of 27 cars made the trip out to Greenwood, Nebraska for the chance to take home a big $4,000 paycheck.
Kosiski started on the pole of the 35-lap main event to close out the evening. He jumped out to the early lead while Josh Leonard ran second in the early stages of the race.
As the race went on, the two feature winners from Friday night, Bill Leighton Jr. and Defending Series Champion Tad Pospisil, made their way up into the top five and challenged for position. All the while, Kosiski was working his way through lapped traffic.
Leighton worked his way up to second in the closing laps and was looking to challenge Kosiski for the lead. However, his motor blew while he was in second with only four laps remaining. Leighton pulled to the pits which gave the second spot back to Josh Leonard.
In the end, Kosiski held on and led all 35 laps to take home the biggest win of his career. It was third career Malvern Bank Series feature win, his second at his home track, and his first win since the 2019 Spring Meltdown.
Josh Leonard took second while Tad Pospisil finished third. Jesse Sobbing and Charlie McKenna rounded out the top five.
With opening weekend for the Malvern Bank West Series in the books, the tour will take a week off and return to racing action on April 17th with the first of two visits to the Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City, Iowa.
Meanwhile, the Hauliní with Hoker Trucking East Series gets their 2021 season started with a 2-day weekend of racing. On Thursday and Friday, April 8th and 9th, the East tour takes a pair of Iowa tracks. The first will be the first of four visits to the Davenport Speedway in Davenport followed up with the seriesí debut at the Lee County Speedway in Donnellson.
